Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a State and Local Task Force Agreement with the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, Dallas Field Division for Task Force 1 activities.

 

Body

The new Task Force Agreement with the Dallas Field Division of the Drug Enforcement is effective from October 1, 2019, through September 30, 2020. The Task Force Agreement outlines the terms and duties of officers and agents assigned to Task Force 1 of the Dallas Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Agency.

 

Financial Implications

The Mesquite Police Department (MPD) pays the salary of one undercover detective assigned to the Task Force. Participation in the Task Force allows the MPD’s Narcotics Unit to receive substantial support from the Drug Enforcement Agency and participation in Asset Forfeiture Sharing.

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends that the City Manager be authorized to execute the agreement.
