A resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Election Services Contract and Joint Election Services Agreement with Dallas County Elections Administrator in connection with the General Election to be held November 5, 2019.
Body
This contract with the Dallas County Elections Administrator will provide election services to Mesquite registered voters, currently 73,584, for the November 5, 2019, General Election, who reside in Dallas County.
Political subdivisions holding an election on the November uniform election date are required to use county election precincts and polling places. Beginning with the November 5, 2019, Dallas County Elections Department (DCED) will begin utilizing Countywide Vote Centers. City of Mesquite residents, who are registered voters in Dallas County, may vote at any Election Day Vote Center. In the past, voters had to vote at their assigned precinct voting location. The goal is to improve access and increase turnout on Election Day. All Election Day and Early Voting sites will remain open to eliminate confusion from voters who go to an Early Vote location on Election Day. DCED will evaluate voting patterns after a few elections to determine voter needs.
The contract provides for:
* Participation by nine entities and Dallas County's participation for a Special Election to be held in Texas State House of Representatives District No. 100 for the purpose of electing a State Representative to serve out the unexpired term of the Honorable Eric Johnson and Constitutional Amendments.
* Responsibilities of the Dallas County Elections Administrator and participating entities.
* Estimated election cost for the City of Mesquite which is $116,964.43.
* Hours and locations for early voting (approximately 51 locations countywide with two of these locations being located in Mesquite at Lakeside Activity Center, 101 Holley Park Drive and Florence Recreation Center, 2501 Whitson Way).
