A resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Election Services Contract with the Kaufman County Election Officer in connection with the General Election to be held November 5, 2019.
Body
The City is required to contract separately with Kaufman County to provide election services for Mesquite residents who reside in Kaufman County. There are currently 86 registered voters in Kaufman County who reside in the City of Mesquite city limits. This election services contract will allow staff to coordinate with Kaufman County to provide elections services for these residents for the November 5, 2019, General Election.
The contract provides for:
• Responsibilities of the Kaufman County Election Officer and the City.
• Early voting dates, hours and locations.
• Election Day voting hours and locations. Kaufman County Elections Department utilizes Countywide Vote Centers. City of Mesquite residents, who are registered voters in Kaufman County, may vote at any Election Day Vote Center.
• City of Mesquite’s estimated cost for the 2019 Joint Election is $3,205.05.
Financial Implications
Election costs are budgeted as Professional Services in the City Secretary Department’s Fiscal Year 2019-20 budget.

Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
