Five solid waste rear-loaders were budgeted to be replaced in Fiscal Year 2019-20. However, a 2012 transfer truck (Unit 1200348) has become a higher priority than one of the rear-loaders due to poor performance, extensive down time, repairs and high mileage.

All five rear loaders budgeted to be replaced this fiscal year were evaluated and Unit 1000333 was determined to be the rear-loader in best condition of the five to retain. The funds budgeted for this rear loader are enough to purchase a 2020 Kenworth T800 transfer truck and put it into service.

The Manager of Solid Waste and Manager of Equipment Services recommend using the funds from one rear loader to replace the transfer truck.

Unit being replaced:

2012 International Transfer Truck-Unit 1200348 - Mileage 109,157

Financial Implications

The remaining budgeted amount will be used making ready for service.
