Authorize an expenditure in the amount of $100,650.50 to the Mesquite Independent School District (MISD) for reimbursement of park improvements to Hanby Park and authorize the City Manager to execute payment.
Body
On March 6, 2017, the City Council approved an agreement to transfer City park property at Evans Park, 480 Gross Road, to Mesquite Independent School District (MISD) to allow construction of the new Hanby Elementary School. The property transferred by MISD to the City was developed into an expansion of the existing Hanby Park located within the boundaries of Cascade Street and Lee Street. The City agreed to reimburse MISD for City requested park improvement items.
The total for these improvements is $100,650.50 and consists of upgrading baseball practice fields with hooded backstops and perimeter fencing, lighting of existing parking lots, additional sidewalks and park furnishings. Construction of the new park was completed in October 2019.
Financial Implications
Funding is available from the Mesquite 4B Quality of Life Corporation.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the expenditure.
