Title

An ordinance adding newly-annexed areas in Kaufman County into Single-Member District 6 and providing an effective date.

Body

On December 3, 2018, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 4626 which established the boundary lines of each single-member district within the City.

This proposed ordinance will amend Exhibit A to Ordinance No. 4626 (the adopted Illustrative Plan Map) to include two recently annexed areas in Kaufman County into District 6, those being the Heartland Town Center and Polo Ridge Ranch developments.

Since there are no qualified voters currently residing in these news additions, there will be no immediate impact to the City’s district population and demographic distribution, and the impact of new residents should be very minimal prior to the next decennial census review.

Recommended/Desired Action

City staff recommends adoption of the proposed ordinance.
