The City of Mesquite and the Mesquite Independent School District (MISD) have mutually agreed to maintain a 55-mile underground fiber optic network, which provides communication to MISD facilities, City facilities and traffic signals. MISD, with assistance from the City, advertised Requests for Proposals for annual fiber optic cabling repair and maintenance services in December 2019. Proposals were evaluated and Future Telecom, Inc., was selected. MISD has executed a contract with Future Telecom, Inc., for fiber optic locating, repair and maintenance of MISD facilities. This contract between the City of Mesquite and Future Telecom, Inc., provides for locating, repair and maintenance of City-only fiber facilities.
Financial Implications
Funding is available in the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 operating budget. This contract is for one year, with four one-year renewal options, in an amount not to exceed $120,000.00.
