Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute Change Order No. 2 to Bid No. 2019-085, KidsQuest Playground Removal and Replacement: Construction, with Phillips/May Corporation in the amount of $50,783.21.

Body

On August 5, 2019, the City Council approved Bid No. 2019-085, for construction of the KidsQuest replacement playground at DeBusk Park, addition of a new parking lot and renovation of the existing picnic pavilion in the amount of $663,963.00. Change Order No. 1 was approved on October 28, 2019 for the addition of two LED light poles for new parking areas, use of cedar for picket fence and the addition of three 15-foot sections, extend french drain system, adjust pavilion restoration work and observation area, and revise electrical and water services in the amount of $35,630.75.

As the construction continued, additional unanticipated work items were identified that needed to be addressed. The Contractor submitted price proposals that were reviewed by the Park Project Manager and determined to be reasonable. The total contract changes are within the allowable 25 percent change order limit. However, City Council approval is required because the total amount of Change Order No. 2 exceeds $50,000.00.

Change Order No. 2 includes the following:

                     Restriping the existing parking lot

                     Additional irrigation for park areas

Adjustments to the ADA transition entry

Shoring work at the picnic pavilion

                     Additional engraved picket rail sections

Financial Implications

Funding is available by 4B Quality of Life projects.
