Title

A resolution authorizing the name of a new road in honor of George Boyce.

Body

George Boyce is a former Mayor and Municipal Court Judge for the City of Mesquite. He served on the City Council, worked in the Engineering and Streets Division for the City of Mesquite and participated in many boards and community activities. In his nineties, Mr. Boyce is still committed to Mesquite by supporting various initiatives and helping to identify areas needing improvement in the community.

Due to his community involvement over the past 50 years, it has been proposed that a street be named for Mr. Boyce. As part of the Ridge Ranch development, the Mesquite Independent School District is building a road to serve as a secondary access to Woolley Middle School. The street will also serve as an entrance into Ridge Ranch and will potentially connect to the Lucas Farms/Solterra development.

The attached resolution supports the naming of this street as George Boyce Drive. Mr. Boyce will be on hand at the City Council meeting to be recognized with a street name sign.
