Title

Ratify the emergency expenditure of $30,000.00, and authorize the City Manager to execute a contract in a not to exceed amount of $53,000.00, with Germophobe, LLC, without competitive bidding pursuant to Section 252.022(a) of the Texas Local Government Code, for the continued weekly sanitizing of all fire stations and first responder areas in the Police Department.

 

Body

The City has been utilizing Germophobe, LLC, to disinfect and sanitize all seven Mesquite Fire Stations and apparatus and the first responder areas of the Mesquite Police Department weekly since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations. The projected $53,000.00 is the amount necessary to continue weekly electrostatic disinfecting through November 30, 2020.

 

Bids have been obtained from Germophobe, LLC, and Blackmon-Mooring, Inc. A Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) vendor search returned no vendors found for the electrostatic disinfecting service.

 

Financial Implications

The total amount of $83,000.00 is eligible for reimbursement under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
