Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute an agreement with Dallas Regional Medical Center to facilitate Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding for the purchase of medical equipment related to the COVID-19 response for the Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas, by the City reimbursing Dallas Regional Medical Center for qualified medical equipment in an amount not to exceed $500,000.00.

During the Pre-Meeting on July 6, 2020, the City Council received a presentation proposing Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) programs. The presentation included information regarding a project aimed at increasing our community’s surge capacity for residents that require hospitalization due to COVID-19.
Staff has engaged in discussions with Dallas Regional Medical Center regarding strategies and needs of our community during this public health emergency. The use of the grant funds provided to Dallas Regional Medical Center located in Mesquite, Texas, will be utilized to purchase needed medical equipment that will serve a public purpose by ensuring our community’s hospital is prepared and able to respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency by enhancing the overall response capacity.
Financial Implications
These costs will be charged to the COVID-19 fund and project established for this event and funding will come from direct relief assistance provided by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act interlocal agreement with Dallas County.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute an agreement with Dallas Regional Medical Center.
