Title
An ordinance amending Chapter 6 of the City Code, by repealing Chapter 6 in its entirety and replacing with a new Chapter 6 including new Article I to be titled “In General” and new Article II to be titled “Fire Code;” adopting the 2018 Edition of the International Fire Code (I.F.C.) and providing certain local amendments thereto.
Body
The Mesquite Building Standards Board met on July 28, 2020, and voted to recommend that the City Council adopt the International Code Council (ICC) 2018 Edition of the International Fire Code, with amendments.
The substantive amendments contained in the proposed ordinance were reviewed and recommended for adoption by an advisory committee of the North Central Texas Council of Governments and conform to building practices within the region. Many of the local amendments are carried over from the City’s adopted fire code, which is based on the ICC 2015 Edition.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the proposed ordinance.
