This project is to rehabilitate the following two road segments using an asphalt overlay:
* Gus Thomasson Road from Karla Drive to City Limits
* Gus Thomasson Road from Whitson Way to IH-30

The project will also involve full-depth concrete pavement panel replacement at several locations prior to the asphalt overlay. The asphalt overlay will provide a new riding surface and is expected to last for approximately seven to 10 years. The full depth concrete repairs completed in preparation for the overlay are expected to last for 20 years. The project is expected to begin February 2021 and will take approximately four months to complete.

Bid notices were broadcast through the BidSync electronic bidding system, published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper and posted on the City's website. Four bids were received. City staff has qualification information submitted by the low bidder, has previous favorable experience with this contractor and recommends award to TexasBit.

Dallas County has committed project funding in the amount of $1,037,884.76, of which $205,384.76 was used for Northwest Drive in 2018 and $60,000.00 is reserved for County project management expenses, leaving $772,500.00 to be used to fund this contract through a reimbursement process. The remaining funding of $1,026,502.55 is budgeted in the Street Preservation and Major Thoroughfares Maintenance Projects.
