A resolution authorizing the City Manager to finalize, execute and administer a Water Transportation Agreement between Mesquite and the City of Forney, Texas, for the transportation of water to Markout Water Supply Corporation customers.

The City of Mesquite is in the process of acquiring the Markout Water Supply Corporation (Markout) water system and customers. Currently Markout obtains treated water from the City of Forney pursuant to a May 2, 2006, Wholesale Water Contract, as amended by the June 22, 2006, Amendment No. 1. As part of the acquisition of Markout, the Cities of Forney and Mesquite have consented to both the assignment and termination of this wholesale contract upon transfer of the Markout system to Mesquite. Until the City of Mesquite has designed and constructed facilities to extend its water system to Markout, Mesquite will need to transport treated water from the North Texas Municipal Water District through Forney’s water system to Markout. This Water Transportation Agreement outlines the quantity, quality, delivery point, transportation price and terms that Mesquite will transport water to Markout through the Forney water supply system.
