On October 16, 2017, the City Council authorized a contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., to perform professional engineering services for a pump station, ground storage tank and large diameter water transmission main to provide water service to tracts of land within Kaufman County. Kimley-Horn has completed the design for the water main with the design for the pump station and ground storage tank to be completed in the coming months.
As set forth in the plans and specifications, the project is designed to construct a three-million-gallon ground storage tank, a pump station with an initial 10 million gallons per day (MGD) capacity, a generator building and site piping.
Bid notices were broadcast through the BidSync electronic bidding system, posted on the City’s website and published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper. Seven bids were received and opened on December 22, 2020.
Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., contacted references and reviewed other qualification information submitted for the low bidder, Gracon Construction, Inc., and recommends award as the lowest qualified bidder. Notice to Proceed (NTP) is scheduled for February 1, 2021, and should be completed by July 25, 2022, under a 540-day calendar day contract.
Financial Implications
The Matthew Holzapfel Pump Station Project is funded by water and wastewater bond funds.
