Approve Amendment No. 2 to the Fiscal Year 2020-21 Police State Seizure Budget in accordance with Title 28, Section 524 of the United States Code and Chapter 59 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure in the amount of $200,000.00.

Pursuant to Title 28, Section 524 of the United States Code and Chapter 59 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, the City of Mesquite has adopted a budget to account for funds awarded as a result of court forfeitures and contraband, and expenditures from the proceeds may only be used for law enforcement purposes in accordance with federal and state regulations.
This fiscal year, due to the increased case filings by the narcotics unit, previous year invoices and the District Attorney’s sharing agreement changes, the department will exceed the budgeted amount of $99,000.00.
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2020-21 Confiscated Seizure Fund Budget is amended to include expenditures of the following items:
Legal Services / Court Costs $200,000.00
