Title

A resolution authorizing the filing of a grant application in the amount of $66,370.00 with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) for a regional solid waste program local implementation project, authorizing the City Manager to act on behalf of the City of Mesquite in all matters related to the application and pledging that if funding for this project is received, the City of Mesquite, Texas, will comply with all project requirements of the NCTCOG, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the State of Texas.

Body

On April 7, 2021, the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) issued an invitation for qualifying entities to submit grant applications for projects that aligned with the NCTCOG adopted Regional Solid Waste Plan.  This pass-through grant program is funded by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Regional Solid Waste Grants Program from revenue generated by State fees on municipal solid waste disposed of at landfills. Keep Mesquite Beautiful is seeking approval to apply for grant funding in the amount of $66,370.00 to develop a litter prevention campaign and program as outlined in the Clean City Initiative Action Plan. If awarded grant funding, the City will allocate and expend the necessary funds to support this grant project and then seek reimbursement from the NCTCOG.
