The City of Mesquite has entered into an Interlocal Cooperative Purchasing Agreement with the City of Plano, Texas, for the purchase of various items. The City of Plano awarded Bid No. 2021-0073-AC to Acme Auto Leasing, Inc., for vehicle leasing program.
The Mesquite Police Department (MPD) uses leased vehicles through this agreement to facilitate surveillance activities. Using leased vehicles allows us to switch vehicles periodically so that investigative targets cannot easily identify MPD vehicles.
Financial Implications
The Police Department currently budgets federal seizure funds for lease vehicles as part of the annual budget process. The remainder of Fiscal Year 2020-2021 has sufficient funding and the remaining funding for this item will be included in future budget submissions. The total cost for the contract is the total cost for all seven vehicles and all related fees.
