The City contracts for the replacement of sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, drive approaches, and curb and gutters associated with the City 50-50 Program. The 50-50 Program provides an opportunity for residential landowners in the City to request the City to replace sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, drive approaches, and curb and gutters within the City right-of-way. The landowner is required to pay a portion of the cost of this pavement replacement (approximately 50 percent). The locations for the work are at various locations throughout the City of Mesquite.

This is an annual contract beginning with the notice to proceed date and expiring one calendar year from the notice to proceed date. The contract also includes a renewal option to extend the contract period for two additional one-year periods, renewable on the yearly anniversary of the notice to proceed date of the original contract, provided that both parties, the contractor and the City, are in mutual agreement and execute a renewal in writing signed by both parties.

An analysis of performing this type of work in-house determined that the quantity of work does not justify a full-time crew. An additional $475,000.00 in equipment and labor, plus the cost of concrete.
