Authorize the City Manager to execute an advance funding agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation for participation in the Lawson Road Highway Safety Improvement Program Project.

This agreement will authorize funding and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) participation for the Lawson Road Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) Project. The City was selected for funding in the TxDOT 2020 HSIP Call for Projects. The HSIP funding is for highway safety projects that eliminate or reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes. The Lawson Road HSIP Project consists of adding a three-foot shoulder and guard rail on both sides of Lawson Road from 1,635 feet south of East Cartwright Road to 2,885 feet north of Milam Road. Appropriate side slopes will be added from the edge of the new roadway.
Financial Implications
Grant is funded through the TxDOT 2020 HSIP Call for Projects. The City matching funds and other costs are available in the 2022 CIP budget.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the Lawson Road Advance Funding Agreement with TxDOT.
