Staff recommends the purchase of one pumper truck equipped with a fully enclosed cab, a 1,500 gallon per minute (GPM) pump, a 750-gallon water tank and ladders. The pumper truck is offered through Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists, Inc., an approved vendor of HGAC Buy, and the pumper manufacturer is Spartan Emergency Response (Spartan ER).

 

The pumper is scheduled for replacement in compliance with the Mesquite Fire Department’s Apparatus Replacement Program and will replace the pumper at Fire Station 6. The pumper is listed as an S-180 pumper, which is pre-engineered to accommodate the common features utilized by most fire departments, reducing costs and allowing for 180-day delivery.

 

A portion of the balance of the budgeted amount will be used to buy non-specified loose equipment, radios and mount the Mobile Data Computer and tools.

 

Financial Implications

Funding in the amount of $787,000.00 has been approved in the Fiscal Year 2021-22 Capital Budget.
