A resolution accepting additional funding in connection with the 2019 Homeland Security Grant Program and execution of the sub-recipient agreements with the Office of the Governor, Texas Homeland Security State Administrative Agency, in the amount of $60,000.00; authorizing the Emergency Management Coordinator as the authorized official to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the City and agreeing to return the $60,000.00 grant in the event of loss or misuse of the $60,000.00 grant funds.

The City has been awarded additional funding as part of the 2019 Homeland Security Grant Program in the amount of $60,000.00 The City agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Office of the Governor funds, the City will return the funds to the Office of the Governor in full. The additional grant funding will be used to support the following project:
(1) Mesquite Police Department SWAT Equipment Enhancement (Night Vision Goggles) (Grant Number: 3551001) - will enhance the Tactical Team’s ability to operate in low light or no light conditions to protect officers and citizens when dealing with coordinated and complex terrorist attacks, hostage rescue situations, and active shooter incidents, or other criminal activity.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
