Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a Professional Engineering Services Contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates, LLC for the survey, engineering design and preparation of bidding and construction documents for the rehabilitation of the ground storage tank roofs at the Barnes Bridge Pump Station in the amount of $168,700.00.

Body

The City of Mesquite owns the Barnes Bridge Pump Station, located northwest of the City at the intersection of Barnes Bridge Road and Ferguson Road. The pump station includes a 5 million gallon and a 2 million gallon ground storage tank, both of which were built in the 1960’s. The roof on each storage tank is flat and no longer complies with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) slope requirements for water storage tanks. Therefore, this contract will provide for interior and exterior evaluations of both tanks, recommendations for changes to the roofs, coordination with TCEQ, engineering design, preparation of plans and specifications and construction phase services.

Kimley-Horn and Associates, LLC was selected for water and wastewater focused projects through the City’s formal Request for Qualifications completed in February 2020, which will be used for a variety of engineering services over the next three to five years.

Financial Implications

This project is budgeted with Water and Sewer funds.

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to execute a contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates, LLC.
