The Mesquite-Garland Trail Connector project is included in the Mesquite Trails Master Plan which was adopted in 2008. This connector will extend from the existing Mesquite Heritage Trail to the Duck Creek Trail in Garland. This project will provide a hike and bike trail connection with Garland and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) - Park and Ride Facility at IH 30 and Greenbelt Parkway.
The plans include a 12-foot-wide concrete hike and bike path from the existing Mesquite Heritage Trail, north of Northwest Drive. The trail will follow existing utility easements to the Garland city limits on Duck Creek. The trail is approximately 2,500 linear feet in length and includes installation of storm drainage pipe and box culverts, grading, sodding, and other appurtenances.
Bid notices were broadcast through Periscope Holdings electronic bidding system, posted on the City’s website and an Advertisement for Bid was published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper. Six bids were received and opened on August 12, 2021.
