On May 17, 2021, Council approved RFP No. 2021-065 - Heritage Plaza Renovations. The renovated Heritage Plaza building will serve as the new Visitor Information Center for Mesquite and will accommodate the offices of the Downtown Manager, the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and Chamber of Commerce.
The architect for the project, Donald F. Sopranzi, AIA, has held numerous meetings with City staff and designed the furniture plan for the building. In addition to the office space, the Visitor Information Center will include a reception area, presentation/meeting room, small kitchenette and restrooms for staff. The building will also have public restrooms that will be available to visitors and the public during Downtown events.
Financial Implications
This project is funded from both the Town Centre TIRZ No. 2 and Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Fund. The HOT Fund will fund 36.48 percent of the costs based on the square footage of space occupied by the CVB.
Recommended/Desired Action
