Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a Professional Engineering Services Contract with Garver, LLC for the survey, engineering design and preparation of construction documents for the Shannon Road to Lawson Road Water Line Project in the amount of $152,475.00.

Body

The City of Mesquite currently has a 6-inch water main that crosses I-20 at Shannon Road before continuing west to McKenzie Road. This 6-inch water main is one of two main sources of water to the Hagan Hill subdivision. In order to improve fire flow for Hagan Hill and facilitate economic development south of I-20 near Lawson Road, it is proposed to replace the 6-inch water line that crosses I-20 and the 6-inch line from Shannon Road to McKenzie Road and install new 12-inch pipe in all locations to Lawson Road. This will connect to the existing 12-inch pipe in Shannon Road south of I-20 and improve the water system in several regards for the area south of I-20.

Garver, LLC was selected for water and wastewater focused projects through the City’s formal Request for Qualifications completed in February 2020, which will be used for a variety of engineering services over the next three to five years.

Financial Implications

This project is budgeted through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
