Dallas College has approached the City of Mesquite and Mesquite ISD regarding a potential partnership involving use of the pool facility at Eastfield. The campus no longer utilizes the pool for programming purposes and is seeking options for potential uses. In discussions with Mesquite ISD and Dallas College, there is interest in enclosing the pool to allow for a year round practice facility for the Mesquite ISD Aquatic Program.
Staff will discuss potential elements of a partnership in which the City would operate the pool facility and manage recreational programs at the facility when it is not being used by Mesquite ISD Athletics.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff will seek direction from the City Council on pursuing a partnership with Dallas College and Mesquite ISD.
