Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a Professional Engineering Services Contract with Garver, LLC for the survey, engineering design and preparation of construction documents for the Crandall Connector Water Line Project in the amount of $398,535.00.
Body
The City of Mesquite has been working with the City of Crandall to be able to provide them with wholesale water. Currently, water is provided to the intersection of FM-740 and FM-2757 with the Polo Ridge development extending the 18-inch water line down FM-2757 to Kelly Road. To be able to serve the City of Crandall, the 18-inch water line must be extended from Kelly Road, along FM-2757, to FM-741. An additional 2,700 feet of 12-inch water line is included from the end of the pipe in FM-2757 to the negotiated point in the City of Crandall. The project also includes a metering station located at the southern border of the Mesquite water system near FM-2757 and Kaufman County Road 257.
Garver, LLC was selected for water and wastewater focused projects through the City’s formal Request for Qualifications completed in February 2020, which will be used for a variety of engineering services over the next three to five years. They are qualified to perform the survey, geotechnical, design, and construction management of this project.
Financial Implications
This project is budgeted through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to execute a contract with Garver, LLC for the Crandall Connector Water Line Project.
