Conduct a public hearing and discuss City Council initiated illustrative plans and any other illustrative plans proposed by the public for redistricting City Councilmember Districts based on 2020 Census data.
Body
During the Pre-Meeting, Gunnar Seaquist, Attorney with Bickerstaff Heath Delgado Acosta, LLP, will lead discussion for this “Second Drawing Session” to review City Council initiated illustrative plans, and will receive City Council and public input on any further modifications to the illustrative plans, and will review other redistricting plan(s) proposed by the public, if any, prior to finalizing the City Council District Redistricting Plan.
Public meetings for citizen input were held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Florence Recreation Center and on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Rutherford Recreation Center. A public hearing and ordinance adopting the City Council District Redistricting Plan will be scheduled for the May 2, 2022, City Council meeting.
Recommended/Desired Action
Upon conclusion of this second drawing session and public hearing, City staff requests the City Council approve a City Council District Redistricting Plan based on adopted criteria and guidelines to be attached to the May 2 ordinance.
