In support of the new Wastewater Crew approved by Council for the FY 2020-21. This unit will be used to perform a systematic maintenance program, inspect the City’s sewer system, respond to sanitary sewer overflows, and address sewer work orders. Utility inspection crews would be able to address high-priority sewer issues and continue being proactive in potential problems due to the aging infrastructure.

 

This unit will allow Utilities to remain in compliance with the mandates by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for Mesquite Sanitary Sewer Overflow Initiative Agreement with the TCEQ efficiency plan.

Financial Implications

One unit will be purchased by Utilities, funded through the FY 2021-2022 Capital Outlay Budget. The additional funds will be covered through savings acquired by other purchases.

Staff recommends award to Lonestar Freightliner Group, LLC in Waco, Texas.
