A replacement grapple loader was approved in the Fiscal Year 2022-23 Capital Outlay Budget for Solid Waste. Staff has located one Peterbilt 548 Grapple Loader.
The unit scheduled for replacement has been reviewed by the Department Director and Manager of Equipment Services to verify condition and the need for replacement.
Market conditions have substantially increased the cost and availability of the grapple loader. Due to the criticality of the unit and the high maintenance costs, staff recommends moving forward with the purchase of this Grapple Loader utilizing residual savings from other purchases.
The estimated time of delivery is April 2024.
Financial Implications
Additional funds to cover the deficit will come from residual savings of other purchases.
