Receive briefing regarding Program Year 2017 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
Body
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program staff has requested and received applications from public service agencies (non-profit organizations and City departments) for use of funds available in the 2017-2018 fiscal year (Program Year [PY] 2017). Attached is an overview of all requests received and the funding each entity requested. Also included is a summary explaining each CDBG activity. Representatives from Sharing Life and Mesquite Social Services will be in attendance and provide an overview of how the requested funding will be utilized by their respective organizations.
Mesquite has not received notification from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) of the PY 2017 allocation. If the budget is reduced, funds will be removed from the section titled other programs/activities.
FUNDING ESTIMATES
Anticipated funding level for PY 2017-18 $997,041.00 - Entitlement Grant
Total funding requests for PY 2017-18 $1,319,601.01
CDBG EXPENDITURE GUIDELINES
• CDBG Administration and Planning activities are capped at 20 percent of the grant, which is $199,408.20.
• Public Service activities are capped at 15 percent of the grant, which is $149,556.15.
• A total of $648,076.85 is available for other projects if Administration, Planning and Public Service activities are funded at their caps.
PROGRAM YEAR 2016-17 REQUESTS
Three non-profit agencies and four City departments requested funding for eligible projects from the FY 2017-18 CDBG entitlement allocation.
